So wet Lounge is on the 1st floor of an apartment block in westlands on Lantana road off rapta road. You walk in and this place is incredibly confused, for lack of a better term. It looks like a pimp and a care bear got married, had a baby and the baby threw up on everything. The walls, the floor, the tables, the bar and the chandeliers are all different designs yet maintain a sparkly and shiny theme with rhinestones and glitter. It is incredibly distracting! We spent most of the night waiting for the strippers to show up. Sadly, there were none.
But let’s talk more about the food.
Compliments of the chef, we were greeted with a white tomato soup and an almond crusted potato crouton like thing. The soup was extremely tasty!! The manager refused to share the recipe. We then had our starters: I had a rucola and baked chevre cheese salad, which literally blew my mind! The citrus macerated tomatoes were amazingly balanced between sweet and tangy. The salad dressing was perfect and worked well with the combination of arugula and cheese. The cheese in itself was the perfect choice for this combination. If I was ever to spend the rest of my life with a salad, this would be it.
My date had the Thai chilli coconut soup. I tasted it and it literally took me back to Thailand. The lemon grass seeping out of this well spiced coconut soup. Yum!
Our taste buds were raging for more!!
The Mains arrived. I had the only vegetarian option on their menu which was a mushroom and cheese tart (just the sound of it got me going) and my date had the prawn curry.
Unfortunately both these main courses were quite bland, I had to add a garlic sauce and chilli in order to bare my meal. So with our hopes lowered, we waited for the desserts. I had the baba au rhum, a rum infused steamed pudding with a caramel ice-cream on the side. We were back to starter level yum! The rum infused pastry was so moist and delicious and paired perfectly with the ice cream. It really was the perfect ending.
And just to add, the service was EVERYTHING! From our hostess at the door, to the managers (one cutie) and the servers. We were treated like royalty and from the looks of it, so was everyone else. To be completely honest, I wouldn’t run back because the décor and the lighting really made me feel uncomfortable and lost. And to make matters worse, both my housemate and I woke up to upset tummies the next morning.
I'd give this place a 6/10
